Discovering Strengths in Uncertain Times

Classrooms filled with participants, refreshments and catering to keep them fueled, trainers scheduled for the day with travel and all materials necessary for an amazing learning experience at Tero.  As training coordinator these tasks filled my days along with maintaining our Learning Center and keeping up with all the associated reports and paperwork.

The one thing that drives all these needs….people.  We find ourselves in a unique situation where our all of the interpersonal skills that we have to offer could, ironically, be detrimental to our health when taught in person.

My role in the organization has taken a direct hit in our new world of the Covid-19 Pandemic.  With nothing to coordinate, I felt myself flounder after the first few days.  Training events had to be postponed and we had to touch base with many clients to offer our support.  What about going forward, what did my job look like?

Enter one amazing team!  Daily Zoom meetings became the norm with many of us now working from home.  This check-in included many logistical discussions but also a touch base on how we were feeling.  Our uncertainties and fears, but also the bright spots that shine when people all come together during crisis.

I am now being refocused on supporting our marketing team with social posts and our learning specialists with learning the ins and outs of virtual training.  I’ve had to be more open-minded and flexible with what I am capable of.  My leaders and team are offering so much encouragement.  I’ve had to dig deep in my toolbox for tools I haven’t touched in a while…..like enjoying writing in college.  Except now it’s called a blog and I guess I’m blogging.
